One person injured by fire in Yakima garage

PHOTO: Yakima County firefighters were on the scene of a large garage fire on Sunday. Just after 5 p.m. firefighters were alerted to the garage fire burning in the 200 block of North 84th Avenue. The homeowner was treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns, according to Yakima firefighters. He was taken to a local hospital and has since been released.

Trio of Upper Valley Fire Districts Receive FEMA Grant

Three local fire districts, Chelan County Fire District 3, 6 and Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue (LWFR), secured the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant. The funding is $722,000 and will help provide the fire districts 101 self-contained breathing apparatus – equipment that can come with a steep price tag.

Chelan Fire Chief Tim Lemon Memorial Services To Be Held October 14th

The memorial services for former Chelan Fire and Rescue Chief Tim Lemon will take place Monday, October 14th beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the New Life Church in Renton. According to the Facebook post with details on the service, it is taking place in Renton to be more central to all the Fire Departments that Chief Lemon served over his 40-year career.

VIDEO: No injuries reported after massive North Carolina fire

Firefighters are still on the scene Monday morning where a large fire broke out Sunday on Atkinson Road near South Shore Drive in Surf City. “They’re working through all the hot spots now, making sure we get this thing extinguished so we can start that investigation promptly this morning," Surf City Fire Chief Allen Wilson said.

Judge rules in favor of Cleveland’s fire union in complaint against city regarding examinations, promotions

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Hollie Gallagher has filed an order against the city of Cleveland, the director of public safety and civil service commission, saying the entities must conduct “competitive examinations and make promotions within the fire department,” she ruled Tuesday. The order mandates the city administer these within six months, court documents say.
