Mom who lost son warns about fentanyl after 2 more teens overdosed in King County

A mother who lost her son to an accidental overdose in September is speaking out after two other teens overdosed in Bellevue last weekend. The boys, one from Bellevue and the other from Yarrow Point, thought they were taking the painkiller, Percocet. But the pills are believed to have been laced with fentanyl.

Lewis County: Proposed 911 Infrastructure Renovation Gets Tentative Price Tag

In a meeting with the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners on Monday, Director of Emergency Services Steve Mansfield and Radio Service Administrator for Lewis County Scott Mattoon unveiled price figures for the renovation of Lewis County’s infrastructure for fire, law enforcement and 911 services from a study done by Hatfield and Dawson Consulting Engineers.

City appoints Ryan Fish new Grand Coulee Volunteer Fire Department chief

Ryan Fish was named the new chief of the Grand Coulee Volunteer Fire Department at the city's Feb. 18 council meeting. A crowd of about 20 people, including several from the department, applauded after Fish's appointment was announced by Mayor Paul Townsend, who gave Fish his badge. "Thank you for stepping up and doing what you do, and what you're going to do for the city," Townsend said.

Firefighters extinguish apartment fire in Spokane's East Central neighborhood

Firefighters have put down an apartment fire near N. Stone St. and Main Ave. in Spokane’s East Central neighborhood. The fire was started in the kitchen of a second floor unit, and black smoke was pouring from the upstairs windows. Neighbors in the area say they saw firefighters respond at approximately 7:45 a.

Update: Spokane Fire Department investigating cause of fire that displaced seven

The Spokane Fire Department is investigating what started a fire that sent one person to the hospital and left seven people without a home on Wednesday. Spokane firefighters said they received a call about building fire at Stone and Main in east Spokane around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Residents Ashly Woods and Annette Flinn said they didn't have any time to think.
