2 Drown Over Warm Weekend In Seattle Area

The man who drowned Sunday after falling off his paddle board near Mercer Island was the second person to drown in the Seattle area this weekend, according to authorities. On Friday evening, Seattle firefighters pulled a man in his 50s from Elliott Bay near the Olympic Sculpture Park. Port of Seattle police spotted the man's body floating in the water, and they suspect his death was an accident.

Four displaced, 2 cats dead in Tacoma duplex fire

Four people were displaced and two cats were found dead after a fire ripped through a Tacoma duplex Friday afternoon, Tacoma fire officials said. Crews with the Tacoma Fire Department extinguished the fire in the area of South 25th and South J streets. Crews called to the scene said smoke was seen coming from the roof.

Fire danger near Bickleton causes evacuation order

Dry and windy weather is feeding flames south of Bickleton. Authorities ordered level 3 evacuations at the Pine Creek Drainage area. Witnesses reported a broken wind turbine started the fire Saturday. Firefighters said the Juniper Fire grew quickly in the Pine Creek Drainage area, south of Bickleton.

Cold Creek Fire remains 80% contained into Sunday morning, firefighters in mop up mode

Firefighters are in the mop up stage now, wrapping up efforts at the Cold Creek Fire. The fire is now 80% contained and has burned 41,920 acres. This number is expected to remain unchanged for the remainder of the fire clean-up. Fire crews are working throughout the day to continue to patrol containment lines and monitor the fire area for hot spots.
