The Kern County Fire Department is losing firefighters to other agencies because of low pay, according to the Kern County Firefighters Association.
A tweet sent out earlier this week announced that two firefighters had resigned to go to other fire departments, and that a total of 41 firefighters were lost for a similar reason since 2014.

Firefighters contained a blaze that scorched 1,150 acres of grass, sage and wheat stubble between Connell and Kahlotus.
Crews from Franklin County fire districts 1 and 3 and Benton County fire districts 1 and 4 are putting out the remaining flames and reinforcing fire lines on the Sulphur Fire Saturday after getting control of the blaze by 6 p.

Wildland Firefighters continue efforts to contain a large lightning-caused brush fire that flared up Friday near Lake Roosevelt. The Williams Flats Fire is reported at over 10,400 acres and growing as of Sunday afternoon. Drift smoke from the fire is affecting air quality in the Wenatchee Valley.
The Williams Flats Fire started on August 2, 2019 after a band of early morning thunderstorms with lightning moved across the eastern portion of the Colville Indian Reservation.

Franklin County firefighters made a lot of progress in the past few hours on the Esquatzel Fire.
According to Franklin County District 1 Fire Chief Eric Mauseth, the fire is 80% contained. About 475 acres have burned, and he does not believe that number will grow overnight. Winds played a huge factor in this fire.
