Two South King firefighters receive Medal of Valor

In the fire and rescue service, positive outcomes after emergencies are rare — although treasured when they occurred. Two South King Fire and Rescue firefighters recently received the Medal of Valor honor from the department for their exceptional efforts and successful water rescue of a female victim last October.

Orcas Island home destroyed by intense blaze

PHOTOS: At 3:27 p.m. on Friday, September 6 Orcas Island Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a structure fire in the 6300 block of Deer Harbor Road. Crews arriving on scene confirmed a large home completely engulfed in flames. “The heat was incredibly intense,” shared Firefighter Ben Luna, who was first on scene.

Food truck back on road in Bellingham just weeks after arson

VIDEO: On Monday, the owner of a popular food truck in Bellingham plans to return to his normal hours approximately 3 weeks after an arsonist destroyed his trailer. Someone set the Tacos El Tule truck on fire in the early morning hours of August 16 as it sat parked in owner Joey Robles's driveway, he said.
