PHOTOS: Lightning caused fires burning in Olympic National Park are increasing in size and causing poor air quality for those in Clallam County.
Additional resources were ordered to manage and support firefighters on the ground. InciWeb estimates between 400 and 500 acres are burning, but a more accurate size will be known after infrared mapping flights take place on Monday.

VIDEO: Dozens of kids donned Spokane Fire gear, “saved lives” and sprayed “flames” at the department’s fifth annual “Kids Junior Firefighter Academy" on Sunday.
Jamie McIntyre, the Community Risk Reduction Manager for the Spokane Fire Department (SFD), said the junior academy is all about teaching families about fire safety and making it fun.

On Saturday, Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue (CKFR) said the Rock Quarry Fire is “producing significant smoke” in the Central Kitsap area. The fire is burning on Green Mountain.
CKFR said residents might’ve noticed more smoke Saturday evening as temperatures cooled.
On Saturday, the Department of Natural Resources sent three helicopters, four engines, and a bulldozer.

VIDEO: One person is dead, and another is critically injured after a float plane crash on Lake Sammamish.
The Bellevue Fire Department reported the crash at 11:11 a.m. on Friday. Several boaters watched the plane struggle to take off before it ultimately crashed.
“The plane was taking off and then it made a sputter, the engine wasn’t getting up to speed and then it kind of hit a nosedive so then it went up, came down, nosedived, and flipped over,” said Janelle Shuey.

A Utah family is grateful to be alive after their houseboat caught fire at Lake Powell.
Maddy Tolman said her family was on board for only about 45 minutes when they heard a loud boom.
“We heard a big boom! Not knowing what it was, we went to investigate. We found the motor on the houseboat had exploded, and caught on fire,” Tolman said.
