The Garretsville Freedom Nelson Joint Fire District recently had its 70-foot ladder truck refurbished. The repairs, which cost just over $53,000, included $13,000 worth of body work, including reflectors, frame sandblasting sealing, and new paint. Other work included new fluids in the ladder’s hydraulic system, water pump, leveling system, suspension and steering.

Every year, the Amarillo Fire Department responds to about 30,000 calls in its red and white fire trucks. Years ago, all the firetrucks in its fleet were green.
