Firefighters in Detroit are reportedly “bracing” for another series of Devils Nights this Halloween after the city decided to end its annual volunteer-led anti-arson campaign, called Angels Night, according to a fire official. The decision to end Angels Night and replace it with a more celebratory community event, dubbed ‘Halloween in the D,’ was announced by the city late last year.

The Mount Vernon Fire Department is asking the City Council to consider sending a bond proposal to voters in February that if passed would give the department the money to make changes at each of its three stations.
The bond would allow the department to address advances in fire service and the growing population of the city, said Chief Bryan Brice.

A man suspected of trying to break into cars was arrested Friday after he allegedly set a garage on fire to cover up his crimes.
At about 3 p.m., police received reports of a suspect trying to break into cars in the WinCo Foods parking lot in Marysville.
The man left the parking lot, police said, and moved to a garage in the 3900 block of 119th Place Northeast.

The Spokane Firefighters Union alerted residents Saturday that a new phone scam asking for donations to a “firefighter support fund” appears to be targeting Spokane.
The phone numbers are coming from (360) 967-0952, (253) 480-6613 and others.
“They are not affiliated with any firefighters or fire departments.
