Rural Metro (AZ) Fire Apparatus in Accident Responding to Drowning Call

The incident happened around 12:45 p.m. Sunday near University Drive and the Loop 202.

Rural Metro Fire says the unit was responding to a drowning call nearby when they were involved in the crash. A five-year-old was taken to the hospital in the drowning call in critical condition and later passed away.

Denver Fire Apparatus Freed from Sinkhole

The Denver fire truck sunk into the residential street in Athmar Park on Sunday morning while responding to a call about a water main break.  

Firefighters responded to the 1300 block of south Zuni Street at about 6:10 a.m. Sunday for calls of a water problem, Denver Fire spokesman Brian Baker said. The truck was parked on the street when the pavement started to sink and crack at about 6:30 a.m., trapping the back wheels of the truck.

Within 20 minutes, Denver Water was able to get the water turned off, but not in enough time to save Flores’ basement, he said.

Training on dead body ‘was neither normal nor acceptable,’ Bellingham fire chief says

One Bellingham Fire Department veteran officer retired and another resigned after an investigation revealed a deceased patient in July was taken to Fire Station 1 to await pick up from a funeral home and several department members, including a division chief and EMS captains, practiced multiple intubations on the body, according to information provided by City of Bellingham Communications Director Vanessa Blackburn.

Kansas Students Receive Fire Engine for Hands-On Learning

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KSHB) – After receiving a rather large donation, students in the Shawnee Mission School District now have another tool to use when it comes to hands-on learning.

For two years, students have been learning more than just math, science and history.

“These are all kids who want to become that in the future,” said Skyler Rhoads, a senior at Shawnee Mission South High School.

Cleverly takes over as deputy director of Grays Harbor County Emergency Management

Hannah Cleverly of Aberdeen is the new deputy director of Grays Harbor County Emergency Management. The County Commission unanimously approved her hiring by Sheriff Rick Scott at the commission’s Tuesday afternoon meeting. “I’m very excited to get going and hit the ground running,” Cleverly said. “I’m excited about the new role and where we’re going to go.
