Thousands of people are in Chicago to attend the National Homeland Security Association Conference. The grand opening ceremony for the conference was held Tuesday at the Hyatt Regency downtown. The event brings together people across various industries such as security, law enforcement, fire rescue and more.

VIDEO/PHOTOS: An explosion at a homeless encampment outside Harborview Medical Center in Seattle was the result of "multiple explosive devices" being detonated, possibly in connection to an ongoing battle for control of the drug trade among the homeless, according to a newly-released police report. The explosion happened Friday morning, July 21, at the encampment that sits between I-5 and the hospital in downtown Seattle.

A fire of more than 50,000 acres has quickly spread across Klickitat County. The Newell Road Fire has now caused evacuations in the area. Emergency Management is now telling residents east of Dot Road to Alder Creek to evacuate the area if they have not already done so. Residents past Alder Creek are told to be prepared in the event of an evacuation.

Facing dry wells, water restrictions and risks to fish hatcheries and salmon migration, state officials declared a drought emergency Monday for watersheds spanning a dozen Washington counties. The declaration stems from a warm and dry trend and is expected to continue through summer, possibly into next year.
