23 wildfires burning in Lewis County, and there could be more

Across Lewis County, more than 30 fires of various sizes have been reported over the last week. As of Wednesday, rain early in the week left five in the county that are being actively monitored and at least 23 that have been reported and named. Many are thought to have been caused by lightning strikes igniting already dry underbrush late last week.

‘In 5 seconds I would have been gone’: Oregon Road Fire survivor shares harrowing story

VIDEO: Firefighters in Spokane County are continuing to battle the Oregon Road Fire in Eastern Washington. As of Wednesday afternoon, that fire has burned more than 10,000 acres and is 79% contained. Meanwhile, we heard from a man recovering at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after he was caught in the flames of that fire and got burned.

Car fire on Tacoma Narrows Bridge snarls commute

VIDEO/PHOTO: A car fire on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge caused traffic delays Wednesday morning, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. Just after 9 a.m., traffic cameras captured the burning vehicle on the bridge in the westbound lanes of State Route 16. Traffic was able to get by in one lane as firefighters worked to put out the fire.

VIDEO: Fire at downtown Los Angeles building sends flames, clouds of smoke into air

A fire broke out in a two-story building in downtown Los Angeles' Fashion District, sending flames and clouds of black smoke into the air Wednesday morning. The fire was reported just before 6 a.m. in the 1100 block of South Los Angeles Street. A large plume of smoke could be seen across the downtown LA area.

New device aims to help Arizona firefighters battle electric vehicle fires

VIDEO: One of the biggest challenges of putting out an electric vehicle (EV) fire is trying to get inside the battery to flood the battery. "They're very difficult to put out," said Avondale Fire Department Battalion Chief Garry Siler. Now, there is a new device that punctures holes in an EV's battery, and floods it with water.
