FDNY says ‘no firehouses used to house migrants,’ despite fake memo

An FDNY spokesperson said Wednesday that no firehouses will be used to help address the city’s ongoing migrant crisis despite a fake memo circulating online. Social media users flooded websites with the fake memo, purportedly from Chief of Operations John Esposito, Tuesday night saying that firehouses would shelter migrants in their living quarters under orders from the office of Mayor Eric Adams, but FDNY spokeswoman Amanda Farinacci confirmed Wednesday that it was a fake.

Metro Atlanta firefighters learn how to respond to a freight train catastrophe

Industrial building fire in Clark County destroys 7 businesses

VIDEO: A fire tore through a large industrial building in the Salmon Creek area north of Vancouver late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning and destroyed at least seven businesses, according to a news release from Clark County Fire District 6. Facing budget cuts, Yakima firefighters consider forming Regional Fire Authority

The Yakima City Council has directed staff to look into doing a feasibility study to determine whether forming a Regional Fire Authority would help better fund the city's fire services in the long run. While the city's general fund is fine for this budget cycle, there's a projected shortfall of more than $7 million for 2025-26 and they're looking to make significant cuts now.

Firefighters respond to Puget Island blaze

PHOTO: Last Wednesday, volunteer firefighters responded to a second structure fire in Wahkiakum County in less than a week. The first was on May 28 on Altoona/Pillar Rock Road. The second fire, unrelated, was on Puget Island.
