Driver rescued 5 days after crashing in Cowlitz County ravine

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Observant people who spotted tire tracks leaving a roadway led to the rescue of a 56-year-old man who had been reported missing 5 days ago in Cowlitz County. After the 911 call came in around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, crews from Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue were sent to the 4900 block of Sunset Way.

Firefighters battle large brush fire along the Yakima River in Wapato

Fire season is getting underway and Sunday, multiple fire departments teamed up to get a handle on a large grass fire along the Yakima River in Wapato. The fire stated around 2:30 Sunday afternoon and multiple callers reported it was spreading quickly near Parker Bridge Road. When Yakima Fire Department District 5 arrived, they quickly upgraded the fire to a second alarm.

Crews fight fire that takes almost entire large house in Sammamish

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Eastside Fire & Rescue crews responded to a large house fire in the 3500 block of 207th Avenue Southeast in Sammamish Sunday afternoon. The Redmond and Bellevue fire departments also assisted in the response. EF&R first tweeted about the fire just after 1:30 p.m. As of 2 p.m., firefighters were fighting the flames defensively.

Families impacted after massive apartment fire in Lynnwood

PHOTOS: Thirty families have been impacted after a two-alarm apartment fire in Lynnwood on Saturday afternoon. The fire broke out at the Bristol Square Apartments, in the 15700 block of 44th Avenue West, at 3:30 p.m. Four units were damaged after an active fire in the attic and roof. One unit was damaged from the fire and three units were damaged by water, according to firefighters.

Prescribed burns could heal Washington forests after decades of fire suppression

As firefighters walk through part of the Central Cascade Forest near Cle Elum, their drip-torches are lit and dropping fuel on a patch of earth. Fire begins to burn, though it’s not spreading quickly. It’s Thursday afternoon, and the firefighters are attempting to spread fire – a process known as a prescribed burn.
