Foam Trucks Aim to Help City Quash Car, Dumpster Fires

The 23 fire engines set for their Boston debut this year will be equipped with foam that can be powerfully effective in helping quash certain blazes and are intended to decrease the risk of cancer for city firefighters, officials said Tuesday. Fire Commissioner Joseph E.

Fire Commissioner Joseph E. Finn said that foam will be used only on dumpster and vehicle blazes, which are most hazardous to firefighters’ health.

“There will be no reason a firefighter will need to be up close to a dumpster fire,’’ Finn said at a City Council hearing Tuesday. “The foam will do the job. It will reduce the exposure.”

$40K in Equipment Stolen from Potter County (TX) Fire Truck

A Potter County fire truck was broken into in Swisher County either Monday night or Tuesday morning, resulting in more than $40,000 of equipment, including the Jaws of Life, storage bags, and generators, being stolen from a locked storage area in the truck.

More than $40,000 worth of equipment was stolen from a Potter County Fire Department truck that was in Happy for repairs, according to the Swisher County Sheriff’s Office.

The truck was scheduled to be worked on at 87 Automotive in Happy. The Swisher County Sheriff’s Office was alerted midday Tuesday that the truck had been broken into and equipment was taken from inside.

Former Centralia Apartment Manager Sentenced to 21 Months for Arson

No Serious Injuries Reported After Minivan Crashes Into Chehalis Building

Investigators are eyeing a malfunctioning accelerator as a possible cause of a van crashing into a building Wednesday afternoon in Chehalis. Neither of the van’s two occupants were seriously injured, Chehalis Police Chief Glenn Schaffer told The Chronicle. Police received a report of the gray Chrysler minivan crashing into the building at the corner of Park and Pacific avenues at around 4 p.

Man gets 20 years in prison for 2014 arson that killed 2 Ohio firefighters

A Lucas County Common Pleas Court judge ordered today that a man convicted of setting a fire that killed two Toledo firefighters spend a maximum of 20 years in prison. The defendant’s plea, conviction, and sentencing came just after Judge Stacy Cook declared a mistrial in the case because jurors heard testimony that was considered incriminating toward the suspect.
