QUINCY -- The evolution of the Adams County Ambulance Service was marked with a ceremonial flag raising at its new station Friday morning. The ceremony began with remarks from those involved in the project. The first speaker of the morning, interim Ambulance Director John Simon's speech was briefly interrupted when a call came over the radio, and two paramedics rushed off.
From building the decontamination rooms directly off the garage to the control of the medical supply, each aspect of the facility was designed with efficiency and response time in mind, Simon said.
"We've evolved our medical care and how we provide our medical care," Simon said. "Now we've evolved and are providing to our EMTs and paramedics an adequate space to be able to decompress and unwind after calls."
The new station ensures that the paramedics and EMTs "have the necessary tools and space when they're on downtime, standing at the ready to answer the community's call."
