PHOTOS: Firefighters were called to fight a fire at an abandoned tavern in North Portland on Wednesday night.
The call came in at about 7:30 p.m.
The fire was at The Barn Tavern at 7421 North Denver Ave.
According to Portland firefighters, the building was on their “unsafe building list” and there have been eight fires at the location in the last 12 months.

An Atlanta city council member is fighting to protect first responders who get hurt while choosing to respond to emergencies while off-duty.
Earlier this month, Atlanta News First highlighted how long-time Atlanta firefighter and paramedic, Lieutenant Mark Quick, witnessed a car crash in January while off duty and stopped to help, but he was hit by a car in the process.

VIDEO: The Appleton Fire Department hosted a bell dedication ceremony on Wednesday morning to celebrate Station #1 receiving a new firefighter’s bell.
Officials say that throughout history, the life of a firefighter has been closely associated with the ringing of the bell. As firefighters began their tour of duty, it was the bell that signaled the start of a shift.

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Crews from the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) found a body responding to a vacant commercial building fire in south Seattle on Thursday morning.
The SFD firs tweeted about the fire —located on the 3500 block of Rainier Avenue South — at 8:56 a.m.
After upgrading the burn to a two-alarm fire, crews said the fire was under control at 9:30 a.
