Two BLM firefighters killed in Nevada crash

A crash on Highway 140, north of Winnemucca, has claimed the life of two firefighters and has sent a third to the hospital. Captain Ken Whittaker with Humboldt General Hospital said the crash happened at mile marker 6 in the southbound lanes of Highway 140, the road that goes up to Denio. According to the Bureau of Land Management, it was a single- vehicle crash but its cause is currently under investigation.

Officer witnesses bridge collapsing under CAL FIRE engine

VIDEO - On Sunday morning an 18-year-old died after swerving off the road, taking out the guard rail, going airborne, and damaging a bridge's support beam, according to sergeant Shaun Hoover, with the California Highway Patrol. While responding to the crash a CAL FIRE engine, with a crew of three, fell through a section of the bridge that was damaged.

Ohio paramedic in wrongful death under new investigation

A Columbus Fire Division paramedic involved in the death of a woman and a $1.2 million city settlement with her family is now under investigation for letting his paramedic certification lapse. James Amick was one of two paramedics who was dispatched in January 2011 to help Sonia Bray. Bray was having chest pains and trouble breathing, vomited and began turning blue while she was getting an MRI.
