Wildfires near Gold Bar, Oso almost buttoned up, crews say

With cooler, rainy weather bolstering their weekend efforts, firefighters have nearly finished containing two Western Washington wildfires. The Proctor Creek fire, near Gold Bar, has burned 352 acres and is now 90 percent contained. The Hot Shot fire near Oso, which was initially thought to be much larger, burned 67 acres, and firefighters have it about 50 percent contained.

Flag Lowering (1st Lt. David Bauders) - 5/18/16

Governor Inslee is deeply saddened by the death of Washington National Guard First Lieutenant David A. Bauders, 25, of Seattle, and directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.  He died in Iraq in a non-combat related incident.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on May 18, 2016.

Please notify your staff and all of your field offices and facilities around the state.

Interment is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 1:00 PM at Tahoma National Cemetery.
