2 killed, 11 injured in three-vehicle head on collision near Orondo

PHOTO: The Douglas County Fire District 4 says 13 people were involved in a three-vehicle head-on collision Sunday afternoon on Highway 97 north of Orondo, with two people being declared dead at the scene. According to DCFD4, first units on scene found the crash involved three vehicles, one boat and a camp trailer.

Coronavirus death toll climbs to 1,159 in state

The coronavirus claimed six more lives in Washington state over the past 24 hours as it continued its relentless assault amid the economic reopening of most counties and ongoing mass protests against racism and police brutality. The additional fatalities pushed the statewide death toll from coronavirus to 1,159.

Sheriff: Teen arrested in arson at Bremerton-area Walmart store

Sheriff's deputies have arrested a 15-year-old juvenile in connection with an arson Saturday at a crowded Walmart store near Bremerton, officials said. The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office says the juvenile was arrested at home after investigators received several tips from the community. The blaze in the children's clothing section of the store caused an estimated $3 million in damage and endangered more than 300 people who were in the store at the time, sheriff's officials said.

Fire crews from across the region honor fallen Washtucna hero

Fire crews from all over the region gathered this weekend to show their support for a fallen local hero. Loved ones say retired firefighter Garth Blauert was killed last week after a tree damaged by a storm fell on him. They say the accident happened Garth’s home, about a mile out of town. Friends say he had been cleaning up trees and debris from the storm for two days before the tragedy.

Power restored downtown aside from two Spokane buildings after vault fire

Power has been restored to the downtown core aside from two buildings after an Avista vault fire this morning, according to a KREM reporter on scene. Fire crews have left the scene. Power was out from Post st. to Division going east and west, and from Riverside ave to the river going north and south this morning.
