Clark County Fire District 3 waives inspection fees for local businesses

On the heels of Gov. Jay Inslee’s approval for Clark County to apply for Phase 2 of reopening, Clark County Fire District 3 has announced its plan to waive fire inspection fees assessed to local businesses in the city of Battle Ground. According to the fire district, fire and life safety inspections of businesses are a cornerstone of the fire prevention program to identify and mitigate fire hazards before they become a risk.

Dozens of guests flee 2-alarm fire at Olympia motel with no sprinklers

A two-alarm fire broke out at an Olympia motel in the predawn darkness on Friday morning, sending dozens of guests fleeing into the night air. The call to 911 came moments after midnight that the two-story Quality Inn at 1211 Quince Street SE was burning, according to Asst. Chief Mike Buchanan with Olympia Fire.

Asotin County fire chief sounding the alarm after falling victim to fake unemployment claim scam

An investigation is underway into just how many local victims there are regarding fraudulent unemployment claims. It’s an elaborate scheme where criminals steal your name and social security number, and file for benefits. “We have enough worries going on with this virus right now and that there are people out there trying to scam the systems, scam people, scam the state,” said Fire Chief Noel Hardin, Asotin County Fire District #1.
