Chris Rea is expected to return to work as the city’s assistant fire chief on Monday.
During a meeting Tuesday, the Common Council voted unanimously in favor of a $300,000 settlement with Rea. That settlement resolves a nearly four-year legal dispute between Rea and the city that began when Rea was suspended by then-Mayor Shayne Gallo in early 2012.

A 57-year-old fire captain died Wednesday after falling ill while repairing an ambulance.
U.S. Fire Administration reported Peter Larlee, with the East Millinocket Fire Department, had just returned from responding to a medical emergency when he went to the fire department’s engine bay to repair a mud flap on an ambulance.

VIDEO - Rush hour drivers witnessed a horrific scene Wednesday afternoon after police say a man set himself on fire.
It happened at one of Lexington’s busiest intersections; Richmond Road and Fontaine Drive.
A witness captured the moment bystanders and Lexington Firefighter, Major Joe Madden began helping the man.

Flags are flying at half staff in Brookfield this week to honor Marcia Rosecky, a paramedic and the city's first female firefighter.
Rosecky died Saturday after a long battle with leukemia. She was 41.
"She was an amazing person," Brookfield Fire Chief Charlie Myers said Wednesday.
"She set the example for all the others.

A Lincoln Fire and Rescue captain has sued the city and the fire department's top brass alleging they retaliated against him for reporting harassment of recruits in 2011 and that he continues to get passed up for promotions because of it.
