Van allegedly crashes into Thurston County fire department vehicle

A McLane Black Lake Fire District 9 vehicle, which was responding to an emergency at the time, was allegedly hit by a van in the area of Evergreen Parkway and southbound U.S. Hwy. 101 on Saturday, according to the Washington State Patrol. All eight people in the van, including the 53-year-old driver of Montesano, were injured and either taken to Capital Medical Center or Providence St.

Fire rips through home in Happy Valley neighborhood of Bellingham

Fire of unknown origin heavily damaged a two-story Happy Valley home Sunday afternoon, Nov. 8, displacing four residents, Bellingham Fire Department officials said. Dispatchers received several calls about a house ablaze at 3017 Wilson Alley about 2:10 p.m. Sunday. “When our crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming out multiple windows,” said Assistant Fire Chief Bill Hewett.
