"State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Horsethief Butte Fire located approximately three miles northeast of Dallesport in Klickitat County. Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on September 13, 2015, at 3:15 pm at the request of Chief Rhet Howard with the Klickitat County Fire District 6.

Clallam County pets, from a rabbit to a Great Dane, now have a better chance of surviving a house fire thanks to a business owner and dog trainer.
Paul Collins, owner of Enviroclean NW and a dog trainer, recently organized a donation drive to purchase five pet oxygen mask kits for local use after hearing of a donation of 20 such masks to the Seattle Fire Department in July.

Investigators are probing the cause of a fire that killed Patrick Leon Lewis, 63, inside his home at 218 E. Lopez Ave. early Friday.
Port Angeles police identified Lewis on Saturday afternoon.
Friends of his at the Front Street Alibi restaurant, however, said earlier they were sure he was the man they knew as Leo Lewis, who raised German shepherds.
