The Douglas County Complex fire has now burned 22,212 acres and is 55% contained. There have been no reports of structures lost or injuries at this time. Crews were able to keep the north fire near Jamieson Lake with in the fire perimeter as they worked to strengthen fire lines. Firefighters on the south fire worked closely with multiple aircraft and dozers to establish and maintain fire lines.

Firefighters say they have a line around the 130 acres, lightning sparked Cheney Plaza Fire. It broke out Sunday afternoon about a half mile southeast of the Turnbull Wild Refuge.
Fire officials say about 155 people were working the fire.
Firefighter Mike McKinley was one of those who raced to stop the fire.

Allegations of racial discrimination against African-American cadets at the Erie County Fire Training Academy in Cheektowaga prompted members of two community organizations to confront officials at the facility on Friday.
City, fire and union officials, however, said investigations determined there was no merit to the charges.

The company near Frederick where several sets of firefighters’ protective gear were destroyed agreed to pay the county nearly $80,000 to replace the equipment.
“TAMKO reimbursed the Frederick fire department for $79,395, which represents a full reimbursement,” Kim Eckerman, the company’s communications manager, said in an email to The Frederick News-Post.

VIDEO: Injured Fresno Fire Captain and local hero Pete Dern, who suffered burns to much of his body while fighting a fire in March, is now walking, and talking, and smiling! He addressed the community Friday and gave thanks for all the support he's received over the past few months.
"Our community here in Fresno -- I want to thank everybody for their prayers and support," Dern said.
