Arlington's fire protection rating jumps; insurance rates could drop

For the first time in over 30 years, the Arlington Fire Department received a lower protection class rating that will result in lower fire insurance costs for most homeowners, businesses and the community. The Washington Survey and Rating Bureau lowered Arlington Fire from a Class 5 to a Class 4 rating after an extensive evaluation.

East Wenatchee Townhome Fire Contained to Single Unit

Douglas County Fire District 2 and Chelan County Fire District 1 responded to a commercial structure fire at an East Wenatchee townhouse on Monday afternoon. The fire was contained to a single unit at the Eastmont Townhomes, located at the corner of Eastmont Avenue and Sixth Street. According to Douglas County Fire Marshal, Kurt Blanchard, right at dispatch heavy smoke was showing.

Fire causes damage to Grandview home

Yakima County firefighters responded to a fire at a home early Tuesday morning. Around 2 a.m., firefighters were sent to the home on the 2700 block of Wilson Highway, just outside of Grandview. According to firefighters, the fire extended from the chimney area of the home into the floor space between the first and second floor, as well as in a wall of the second story.

South King Fire crews battle vehicle fire in Federal Way

VIDEOS: South King Fire and Rescue crews battled a blazing commercial vehicle fire Monday afternoon in Federal Way. Crews responded to the van on fire at the Westhampton Apartments at the 300 block of S. 320th St. around 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 6. Video from the scene shows firefighters working to extinguish flames and dodging sparking explosions from a van in the apartment complex parking lot.

Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue Offers New Scholarship in Honor of Founder Byron Dickinson

Lake Wenatchee Fire & Rescue Firefighers Association have put forward the Byron Dickinson scholarship for seniors graduating from Cascade High School that plan to pursue education in the public service field. The scholarship is a nod to Dickinson, who was an instrumental force in creating the current fire district and one of the founders of Chelan County Fire District No.
