Follow Up: 'Shame on you,' says Whatcom County Fire Chief after station theft

The chief of Whatcom County Fire District 16 says the burglar or burglars who broke into one of his unmanned fire stations should be ashamed of themselves for stealing from taxpayers. Right now, investigators are trying to figure who was responsible for the break-in at Station 87 in the Van Zandt area.

Remembering Bothell firefighter Kirk Robinson

“He was a walking angel.” That’s how Tinya Anderson, a Mercer Island resident, describes Kirk Robinson, a born-and-raised Islander and lieutenant for the Bothell Fire Department (BFD). Robinson died Oct. 4 at the age of 42. He is survived by parents Gary and Lori, brother Clay, wife Jessica and their two children, Gavin (10) and Levi (8).

Whatcom County Fire District 16 reacts to fire hall break-in

A Whatcom County Fire Hall was broken into over the weekend. “We hope you are finding our chainsaws and new generator useful,” a Facebook post made by Whatcom County Fire District 16 says. Donations were requested after the equipment was stolen from the Van Zandt Fire Hall last weekend. In a comment on Facebook from District 16, insurance will cover the stolen items, minus the $500 deductible and security upgrades to the door that was used to get in.

Clallam County Fire District 2 recipient of grant to buy special rescue stretcher

Clallam County Fire District 2 has used a grant to purchase a special stretcher to rescue patients in remote areas. District officials announced Monday the $1,907 grant from the Clallam County Physicians Community Benefit Fund to purchase the rescue litter and wheel attachment. “In recent years, the Fire District has experienced several rescues of patients located in remote areas only accessible by trails,” Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue Chief Jake Patterson said in a press release.

Arlington Fire Department, North County Fire & EMS launch Community Resource Paramedic Program

The city of Arlington Fire Department and North County Fire & EMS have announced a partnership to launch a Community Resource Paramedic program. The Community Resource Paramedic program will be bridging a gap between the patients firefighters see regularly and the community services that already exist to help meet their needs.
