Manton Way Fire in Franklin County estimated at 5,000 acres; 30% containment

Franklin County Fire District 3 says that the Manton Way Fire between Mesa and Connell, as of Tuesday morning, is estimated at 5,000 acres. No homes have been damaged. Crews are still on scene from multiple agencies and the fire is estimated at 30% containment. The fire started on the north side of US-395 at 4:30 p.

San Juan fire districts recognized, receive FEMA grant

City of Pullman fined by Washington Dept. of Labor & Industries for flood rescue operations

The City of Pullman is being fined by the Washington Department of Labor and Industries for their handling of the flooding response in April. Three $900 violations have totaled up to $2,700 for the City, which decided to pay the fines rather than appeal them. According to the City of Pullman, Labor and Industries issued the first $900 penalty for a fire department commander allowing an unauthorized, untrained maintenance employee to drive a front-end loader with three firefighters in the bucket.

Several businesses destroyed after 3-alarm fire erupts in Ballard

Several businesses were destroyed Monday afternoon after a three-alarm fire erupted at a retail building in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. Nearly two-thirds of Seattle's firefighting force responded to the blaze. The first units arrived just after noon as heavy smoke began pouring from the building in the 2300 block of NW Market Street.
