Two alarm house fire in Kelso brings multi-agency response; dog rescued, cat dies

A two-alarm fire in Kelso brought a multi-agency response to battle the house fire Sunday night. Fire officials say they were called to the 100 Block of Vision Drive Sunday at 8:45 p.m. Residents told firefighters that a fire started in a garbage can and then spread to the house. Residents were able to evacuate, but one man went back inside to retrieve his dog.

Family Displaced after house fire in Kennewick

A family has been evacuated after their furnace caught fire Sunday evening. According to Captain Aaron Fryer with Benton County Fire District #1, the family noticed smoke in their home and immediately called 9-1-1. Kennewick Fire was the first to arrive and found that the fire was located in the crawlspace.

Fire crews respond to structure fire near Spangle

Fire crews responded to a confirmed structure fire in Spokane County Sunday afternoon. The fire started on the 1700 block of East Smythe Road near Spangle around 2 p.m. Sunday. Responding fire crews include Spokane County Fire District #3. According to neighbors, the fire started in a barn, prompting them to jump in and start spraying the flames down with garden hoses until fire crews arrived.

Arlington County (VA) Fire Department Debuts New Engine with Retro Logo

The Arlington County Fire Department is reviving a door logo last seen on county vehicles more than 50 years ago, ARLnow.com reported.

The department is gradually upgrading its vehicles with new features, including a better ride quality on its engines, the report said. A fire official said the department’s apparatus committee opted for a 1968-70 throwback design over the existing “old English style door logo.”

Beyond the visual changes, department members will have more space thanks to new cabs and chassis (the part of the vehicle including the frame, engine, transmission and other important pieces) from fire apparatus maker Pierce Manufacturing, the report said.

Man Charged with Stealing Fire Truck in Greensboro (NC)

A man is facing several charges after allegedly stealing a fire truck, according to the Greensboro Police Department, MyFox8.com reported.

The stolen truck was recovered at 1:59 p.m. at Princess Ann Street and Liberty Drive, the report said.

Police say that the fire truck was stolen from the Public Safety Training Facility in Greensboro on North Church Street across the street from Station 1.
