U.S. regulators open probe into reports of Jeep SUVs, pickups catching fire even with ignition off

U.S. auto safety regulators are investigating reports that the engines can catch fire on some Jeep SUVs and pickup trucks even with the ignition turned off. The probe covers more than 781,000 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles from the 2021 through 2023 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says in documents posted Monday on its website that it has nine complaints of engine fires from owners including one that caused an injury.

82-year-old Virginia firefighter still serving after 50 years, inspiring family and future generations

Suspected arson at condo complex displaces Seattle families

VIDEO/PHOTOS: An investigation is underway after suspected arson early Monday morning in Seattle's Licton Springs neighborhood. The fire, which spread from one apartment building to another on the 8800 block of Nesbit Avenue North — about a block east of Aurora Avenue North — prompted the Seattle Fire Department to upgrade its response to two alarms due to the dangerous conditions, the SFD said.

Annual Spokane 'Step to Remember' fundraiser honors the lives of first responders

People gathered in Spokane to participate in a stair climb event honoring the emergency response teams of 9/11. Participants had the opportunity to climb 110 flights of stairs, mirroring the efforts of first responders responding to the attacks. VIDEO: Firefighter transported to hospital, expected to be OK after barn in Florida erupts in flames

Nearly 50 firefighters were dispatched to a massive barn fire in Parkland, where one firefighter was later transported to a hospital after showing signs of heat exhaustion. The firefighter is expected to be OK. The incident happened at around 5 a.m. Monday, when units received a call concerning a barn and guest house fire.
