Genoa (NY) VFD Displays New Pumper at 57th Annual Old Forge Fire School

The Genoa Volunteer Fire Department and the Genoa Fire District were honored when Colden Enterprises asked to display our new Engine 1 at the 57th annual Old Forge Fire School, the Genoa Fire Department said in a Facebook post Sunday.

The drill school was held September 12-15 and hosted by the Old Forge Fire Department and Firefighters Association of the State of New York.

The Genoa crew participated in several lecture and hands on classes including Crisis Management, The First Five Minutes, Propane Live Burn, Fire Ground Operations on Main Street, Grant Writing, Hunter Rescue, and Tanker Shuttle.

“We had a great time learning from renowned instructors, and sharing fellowship and networking with other departments from around the state. We can’t wait for next year.”

GlobalMedic Donates Fire Skid to Horsefly (Canada) VFD

The Horsefly Volunteer Fire Department is pleased and grateful to receive a donation of a fully operational Rapid Response Water Suppression Fire Skid from GlobalMedic, the department said in a Facebook post recently.

The skid can quickly be installed into the back of a pick-up truck to be deployed into hard to reach areas. This fire skid is an invaluable addition to the department and community. This skid will transport and pump 1,000 liters of water (264 gallons).

Miraculous rope rescue: Woman survives 100-foot fall at Racehorse Falls Trail in Whatcom County

A woman is recovering in the hospital after falling more than 100 feet at Racehorse Falls in Whatcom County. Last Tuesday, firefighters from Whatcom County Fire District 14 got a 911 call around 2 p.m. from an injured woman who had fallen at Racehorse Falls. When crews arrived, they found a woman who had fallen between 30 to 40 feet straight down before tumbling an additional 60 feet down a slippery slope and landing in a pool of water 15 feet from land.

VIDEO: Pipeline fire in Texas burns throughout the night, into morning

Nearly 24 hours after a pipeline in Deer Park burst into flames, that fire was still intensely burning. The temperature from the fire was so intense it torched a nearby playground. Firefighters hosed down their equipment and nearby homes, but that wasn’t enough to fight back against the radiant heat.
