Later this summer, a new 24,779-square-foot facility at Quantico Marine Corps Base will replace Fire Station 533, which will be demolished.
“If you have driven near the intersection of MCB-1 and MCB-2 on the west side of base, you have no doubt caught a glimpse of the impressive fire station under construction,” Quantico Fire & Emergency Services writes on Facebook.
“The new station will include living quarters for 13 on-duty firefighters, kitchen and dining facilities, a 25-person training room, a recreation room, fitness space, locker room, and showers. The station will also have space for back-up dispatch and administrative personnel.
“The upgraded facility has significantly increased space that can accommodate storage for personal protection equipment, hazmat, hoses and emergency medical technician equipment.
“The space also allows for a laundry, vehicle maintenance, self-contained breathing apparatus maintenance, and compressed air maintenance and storage.
