Multiple fire departments and agencies battled a large commercial fire in downtown Friday Harbor on San Juan Island that lasted for hours and caused millions of dollars in damage.
The fire in the area of Front and Spring streets was called in by a tow truck driver at 3:43 a.m. Thursday. Multiple buildings were involved, according to Kimberley M.

Worker shortages have been affecting many industries across the country recently. Some who are also feeling the effects are first responders.
Officials from fire departments across Kentuckiana said it's been hard to close the gaps they desperately need filled.
When it comes to hiring new recruits, multiple fire chiefs said that with all of the qualifications that are actually needed, sometimes it feels impossible to bring on a new group of firefighters.

If you were in the city of Manitowoc on that cold spring morning, you most likely remember what Fire Chief James Danielson called “The biggest and most spectacular fire ever in Manitowoc.”
It was just around midnight when a fireman looked out a window of the old Franklin Street station and saw flames coming from Elevator B, formerly owned by the Northern Grain Company, which was four blocks away.

Being a firefighter requires a certain amount of mental and physical strength. Let’s face it: They don’t put these guys and gals on calendars for no reason.
But it’s a part of the job Hygiene firefighter Dylan Miraglia takes more seriously than some.
