A quick-thinking Mukilteo resident may have saved their home from going up in flames after a small kitchen fire Monday afternoon, according to firefighters.
The resident was cooking oil on a stove at a home in the 4800 block of 99th Street Southwest in the Harbour Pointe neighborhood, when they briefly stepped away.

VIDEO: Two people hospitalized following a massive fire at a downtown Bellevue condo have died, a third is in intensive care, Susan Gregg of Harborview Medical Center in Seattle said.
A total of three patients were transported to Harborview.
On Monday, Bellevue Fire said two people suffered smoke inhalation and burns, and two others had heart attacks.

Two Vancouver houses were damaged in blazes that firefighters said played out similarly Tuesday morning.
Crews were first called to 7209 Indiana Street at about 1:30 a.m. and arriving firefighters saw a fully involved garage fire at the single-story house, Vancouver Fire Department Firefighter Joe Spatz said.

VIDEO: A two-alarm fire in downtown Arlington Monday damaged one of the town's oldest buildings.
Firefighters were called to the scene at North Olympic Avenue and East Second Street shortly after 7 p.m. Nearly 50 firefighters responded to the call for help.
Kristin Banfield, an Arlington spokesperson, said it was a "substantial" fire that was reported on the second floor of a commercial building that includes 2 Bits & More Thrift Shop.

VIDEO: Firefighters pulled four people from a burning condo building in Downtown Bellevue Monday night.
According to Bellevue Police, the fire broke just before 8:00 p.m. Monday night and quickly engulfed the 20-unit building on 100th Avenue Northeast, just one block south of Bellevue Square. Bellevue Fire said two patients were taken to a nearby hospital in cardiac arrest.
