Tacoma five-year-old fire victim faces long recovery

It's been one week since an apartment fire in Tacoma took the life of a grandmother and sent her 5-year-old grandson to the hospital. On Monday, the boy's mother gave an update on his condition and the road to recovery that still lies ahead. Connie Roberson thanked the public for their support and prayers over the last seven days.

Fire, explosion injures one at Kent auto repair shop

A fire and explosion injured one man at auto repair shop in Kent at about 10:40 a.m. Monday in the 15300 block of Southeast 272nd Street, also known as Kent Kangley Road. Paramedics transported the shop employee to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries, according to the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority.

Two house fires keep Spokane firefighters busy

Spokane firefighters had a busy Monday morning after two house fires broke out on the east side of the city. Crews responded around 6 a.m. to 1923 N. Nelson St. for a basement fire that was rapidly spreading to the first floor of the home, Steve Sabo, Spokane Fire Department battalion chief said. Firefighters initially fought the fire by going in through the front door, but later had to withdraw and work from outside the house.
