Minnesota woman gives kidney to firefighter who came to her rescue

A Minnesota woman has given a kidney to a firefighter who once answered her call for help. Becca Bundy spotted Bill Cox tending bar last fall. Income tax exemption for New York volunteer firefighters, EMTs being considered

Crews put out fast-spreading grass fire in Prosser that threatened home

Firefighters were able to quickly put out a brush fire that could have potentially been catastrophic on Monday afternoon. Crews received the call around 1:30 p.m. to a home on W 134 PR in Prosser. When they arrived, the fire was fast-spreading uphill heading towards a large field. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly, and West Benton Fire Chief Seth Johnson said if it had entered into a nearby field, it could have grown much larger and been more catastrophic.

Naples' New $9.5M Fire Station Opening this Week

 
 

Naples Fire-Rescue Department Chief Pete DiMaria said the station is "critical infrastructure" for the city due to its durability; the building is expected to stand for at least 50 years.  

"We built this facility to withstand a Category 5 storm and it also has an EOC, which is built inside of a safe room that could take a direct tornado hit, too," he said. "So we feel like we built a generational building. I think that our kids and their kids may be visiting this station."
