SOS Printings former owner dies in wreck on South Discovery Road in Port Townsend

A 66-year-old man is dead after the vehicle he was driving left the road and hit a tree. Daniel Huntingford of Port Townsend was pronounced dead at the scene Monday afternoon. The single-vehicle wreck occurred on South Discovery Road near Olympic Boulevard, just south of the intersection with Cape George Road.

Suspected Drunk Driver Causes Edinburg (TX) EMS Accident that Kills Medic, Patient

Felipe Huerta, Jr., 32, and his patient, Delia Cortines, 68, died when the driver of a Ford F-250 drove into oncoming traffic and hit the ambulance head-on, police said.  A second medic, identified as Andrea Rodriguez, 24, is in the hospital and expected to recover. She was in the back of the ambulance attending to Cortines at the time of the crash. Edinburg police say the driver of the F-250, a 34-year-old male, is in police custody pending criminal charges.

East Olympia firefighter remembered as devoted volunteer

A longtime volunteer with East Olympia Fire District 6 who suffered a medical emergency while responding to a fire Friday is being remembered as a devoted firefighter. John Ostergard was a volunteer fire captain and president of the Washington State Firefighters Association. He was a volunteer firefighter with East Olympia for 27 years, said Chief Warren Peterson.

Revere (MA) has New Fire Apparatus

The Tractor-Drawn Aerial truck measures 100 feet from front to rear with a 100-foot vertical reach. It provides the kind of maneuverability necessary to navigate Revere’s narrow streets and intersections, with the rear steering position, the tiller, steering independent of the front of the truck.  

According the manufacturer’s website, which features a photo of the Revere truck, the vehicle provides maximum visibility from the tiller position and over 500 cubic feet of storage.

Arrigo pointed out that the new ladder truck is the latest example of investments in the city’s fleet of vehicles.
