FDNY joins nationwide campaign addressing lithium-ion batteries following latest deadly fire

VIDEO: The FDNY says fire departments worldwide are experiencing an increase in fires sparked by lithium-ion batteries. FDNY officials demonstrated just how much damage the batteries can do, showing an e-bike spark into flames inside the auditorium of its training facility on Randall's Island. City of Chehalis approves cost recovery fees for fire department services; Staff stresses fees will be charged to insurance companies

During its meeting on Monday, the Chehalis City Council unanimously passed an ordinance creating a cost recovery program for the city’s fire department services on its second and final reading. “Residents will not be billed for these services. Only the insurance companies will be billed,” Chehalis City Manager Jill Anderson said during the meeting.

Fire Forces Closure Of Okanogan Hotel

An Okanogan hotel has been forced to shut down after sustaining damage during a Tuesday morning fire. Firefighters were dispatched to the Quality Inn & Suites in the single-digit block of Apple Way Road at around 9:30 a.m. where they discovered smoke and flames rising from the top floor and roof of the building.
