Brass Fire Department Connections (FDC) are being stolen throughout Northern Liberties and Fishtown neighborhoods.
Authorities suspect they are being sold for scrap, creating an expensive and potentially hazardous problem for home and business owners.

VIDEO: One former Coastal Bend softball player is still keeping her love for the sport of baseball alive by earning a spot on the Women's National Baseball Team roster.
Valerie Perez was a star softball player for Calallen and the Islanders. She eventually became a Corpus Christi firefighter, but never gave up on her love for playing baseball just like her brothers.

VIDEO: A swath of the United States is facing a dangerous combination of extreme heat and wildfire smoke this week.
More than 85 million Americans across 15 states -- from California to Florida -- are under heat alerts for Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. The consecutive days of record-high temperatures combined with high overnight temperatures makes this heat wave especially threatening, as the longer it lasts, the more dangerous it becomes.

West Valley and Yakima firefighters contained an attic fire at a house on the 11200 block of Wide Hollow Road Wednesday.
The fire damaged the attic and roof of the one-story home. No one was hurt.
Fire crews received the call at around 12:40 p.m. and had the fire under control within about 15 minutes, West Valley fire chief Nathan Craig said.

VIDEO: The Airway Heights Fire Department is looking to make an upgrade to its station and fire chief Mitch Metzger said it's going to take more than a new coat of paint.
After over 50 years, he said it's time for a new building.
"It is literally a maintenance nightmare,” Metzger said.
This station has served the department since 1968.
