The bodies of three firefighters killed battling a blaze in Washington were removed from the scene Thursday by a procession of emergency vehicles.
Each man was taken out Thursday afternoon in an individual ambulance, escorted by more than a dozen fire and police vehicles with lights flashing. Firefighters along the route held their hands and helmets over their hearts.

With firestorms raging through the eastern half of Washington, State Department of Natural Resources is for the first time in state history setting up support centers for those who want to volunteer to join the firefight.
Officials say they've been inundated with offers from volunteers to help the firefighting efforts.

A man whose house was saved by firefighters from an advancing wildfire near Twisp Wednesday night has taken to thanking him the only way he knew how: With a note and some goodies.
John Cochran has sign outside his front drive simply stating "Thank you" to firefighters, EMS and police officers. Nearby sat a table full of bottled water, Gatorade, doughnuts and granola bars.

A Lewis County wildfire burned more than a dozen chick coops, a fire truck and threatened several homes before fire crews could contain it, according to state officials.
The Gore Road Fire was burning in area near the 200 block of Gore Road in Onalaska, according to the Department of Natural Resources.

Surveillance video captured the moment a gas leak at sparked an explosion at a Washington state motel. The footage shows the blast from two different angles as debris flew into the air and three floors collapsed.
Warren Henry was standing outside along with other guests, evacuated because of the gas leak.
