Firefighters from the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority extinguished a garage fire that broke out at about 3:03 p.m. Wednesday at the Alderbrooke Apartments in the 400 block of Novak Lane.
Firefighters discovered smoke from the eaves of the detached seven-bay single story garage/storage. Firefighters contained the fire to the garage, according to Puget Sound Fire.

The trees are really dense along a stretch of bumpy, narrow road outside Cle Elum in Kittitas County. After years of keeping fire off the landscape, the forest has grown close together.
That means there’s more fuel when a wildfire does burn through this area.

South County Fire is hosting an open house at Martha Lake Fire Station 21, 16810-13th Ave. W. in Lynnwood, Saturday, Oct. 12, with activities and helpful information for all ages.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is free for the public.
The open house wraps up South County Fire’s Fire Prevention Week and will include activities stressing safety, care and fire prevention.

Veniamin “Ben” Granchukoff, a firefighter/paramedic with the Walla Walla Fire Department, recently received a letter from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, congratulating him on achieving 30 consecutive years of National EMS Certification.
The letter, signed by the registry’s Executive Director William Seifarth, states this is a “rare achievement,” and thanks Ben for his “dedication to National Certification, your state EMS efforts and your local EMS development, as well as for providing outstanding care to the citizens of your community.

A date for the funeral service for Okanogan County Fire Assistant Chief Christan Johnson has been set for Thursday, October 24th though a time is still to be determined.
It will take place at the Okanogan County Fairground Agriplex.
More details are expected to be released next week per the family’s wishes.
