On Sunday, August 25, a fire on West Kennewick Ave. prompted officials to close Clearwater Avenue between Vista and Yelm Street. Kennewick Fire Department was dispatched to Mies Races Cafe around 7:42 p.m. after several witnesses reported large plumes of smoke coming from the building. The fire was upgraded from a structure fire to a commercial fire when smoke could be seen coming from the building.

Near the end of an April workday in 2022, the Virginia International Raceway fire and rescue team was notified that a racecar driver had fallen and hit his head just after getting out of his vehicle.
