New Washington University Research Finds ‘Alarming’ Stats About Mental Health Of Paramedics And EMTs

Researchers at Washington University have found that paramedics and emergency medical technicians are seven times as likely as the general public to have thought about suicide in the past year. Five emergency medicine doctors surveyed more than 900 paramedics in Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky and Iowa over three months in 2017.

New Jersey: City sends plan to state to avert most Camden fire department layoffs

Camden city officials, union officials and its fire department will send a set of proposals to the state Civil Service Commission that they hope will, once approved, avert the need to lay off any front-line firefighters. In a letter obtained by the Courier-Post, Mayor Frank Moran wrote to Deirdre Webster Cobb, chair and CEO of the Civil Service Commission, about the loss of a $2.

Clark County home under remodel destroyed by fire, no injuries reported

A home in Clark County was destroyed by a fire early Monday morning. Clark County Fire & Rescue and Fire District 3 responded to the fire at 3:43 a.m. in the 10300 block of Northeast 269th Street. Crews arrived to the scene and found a one-story ranch-style home fully involved. Neighbors told crews that the home was being remodeled and no one was living there at the time of the fire.

New bill would bring more funding for fire stations

Whenever there’s a fire, we expect firefighters as soon as possible. One local fire district says limited resources make that a lot more challenging. However, more money could be on the way for those first responders. It may have happened nearly 30 years ago, but Bonnie Cobb remembers it like it was yesterday.

Trapped worker rescued after retaining wall collapses in Auburn

Crews rescued a worker who became trapped Monday after a retaining wall collapsed on him, burying him up to his waist in rocks and dirt. The incident unfolded at around 10:30 a.m. when crews with Valley Regional Fire Authority received a report of a man who was trapped after a six-foot wall collapsed near Evergreen Way SE and Kersey Way SE in Auburn.
