Pheng Ly’s body camera shows him pulling a helpless woman out of her burning car and into safety. But the scene happened in real life Saturday night in the middle of Ly’s shift.

US is nearing 'rapid acceleration' of COVID-19 cases, expert warns, as daily infections hit about 60,000

US COVID-19 cases will begin to rapidly accelerate in about a week, a leading health expert says, as the country's daily averages keep climbing toward the summer's peak and several states are setting hospitalization records. The US recorded more than 60,300 new cases Tuesday, and the national seven-day case average hit about 59,500 -- an increase of about 73% in five and a half weeks, Johns Hopkins University data show.

‘Critical’ 100-year-old trestle burned near Prosser; Feds asked to declare ‘major disaster’

VIDEO: Washington state is asking the federal government to declare the destroyed railroad trestle and bridge near Prosser a major disaster. The fierce wildfire in September consumed the 100-year-old trestle spanning the Yakima River. The state made the appeal this week to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in order to get money to rebuild what it says is a “critical” bridge, according to the Washington State Short Line Railroad Coalition.

Health officials worried about King County's spike in fentanyl overdoses this year

King County health officials have an alarming warning amid the coronavirus pandemic. With just two months left in the year, King County is seeing a record-breaking number of fentanyl overdoses in the opioid epidemic. New numbers from King County Public Health said there were 116 fentanyl overdoses in 2019.
