Eric Robertson has decided to retire as administrator of the Valley Regional Authority at the end of the year, concluding more than 35 years of public service.
Robertson shared the news with his staff on Thursday.
“I have been extremely blessed in my career, given the opportunity to lead the formation of the first regional fire authority in the state,” Roberts told his employees.

El Dorado Springs Firefighter Russ Hayes, 62, has died after a wreck in a firetruck.
The El Dorado Springs firefighter lost control of a vehicle in Stockton, and was life-flighted to Springfield.
El Dorado Springs City Manager Bruce Rogers tells KOLR10 that Hayes, 62, was on his way to have a pump inspected for annual certification on one of their trucks.

Four central Sonoma County fire agencies aim to join forces within months as one huge fire district — a shift fast-tracked by the October fires and the most visible progress in a years-long effort to streamline the county’s outdated, uneven and financially struggling fire services network.
Windsor, Rincon Valley and Bennett Valley fire districts and the Mountain Volunteer Company are on track to be one agency by this spring.

The downsizing of government in the city of Youngstown began Thursday with cuts in the fire department.
There will likely be more to come, one city official told us the police department and clerk of courts may be next. But Thursday the focus is on the fire department.
"We all have to tighten our belt to be more fiscally responsible with the cities money," Youngstown Fire Chief Barry Finley said.
