The Bainbridge Island Fire Department has canceled all ride-alongs, station tours and community room use to curb the spread of COVID-19. The department has also closed facilities to walk-in assistance.
General assistance and information can still be obtained via the fire department’s main office line and website.

The death of Cowlitz 2 battalion chief Mickel Zainfeld has prompted local agencies and grassroots groups to boost efforts to help firefighters, police and other first responders cope with the emotional trauma of their jobs.
And one way may be for both them and the public to tone down the superhero image they bear.

The Colfax Fire Department says a coffee shop is a total loss after a structure fire broke out on Main St., leading to one firefighter and two nearby residents being hospitalized.
CFD was dispatched to the fire at the Fonk's Coffeehouse around 7 p.m. Tuesday. Fire District 11 was also paged for additional personnel.

Firefighters quickly extinguished a motor home fire Tuesday morning in Camas.
Crews with the Camas-Washougal Fire Department were dispatched at 10:14 a.m. to the 2000 block of Northwest Douglas Street for a report of a commercial vehicle fire.
Four engines and two battalion chiefs responded to the address, fire department spokesman Kevin West said.

Moses Lake's fire department is asking the public to not fret over their staff's appearance when responding to medical calls.
On Tuesday, the Grant County Sheriff's Office released a statement announcing that all MLFD emergency personnel will wear hazardous material suits when responding to all emergency medical calls.
