Crane tips over at Kirkland construction site, trapping operator inside

One person was hurt when a crane tipped over at a construction site Monday morning in Kirkland. According to the Kirkland Fire Department, the crane tipped over around 8:00 a.m. at the construction site for a new building on Lakeview Drive. A 911 call reported that the crane operator was trapped inside.

Tonasket man arrested for murder, arson in wife's death

A Tonasket man has been arrested for murder and arson in connection to human remains, later identified as his wife, found in a car trunk in June. Lance R. Bowers, 37, had remained in Okanogan County Jail on firearms possession charges. He was arrested Thursday for first-degree murder and first-degree arson and is being held on $1.

Apparent natural gas explosion destroys Mt. Vernon home, closes nearby high school

VIDEOS: An apparent natural gas leak caused a large explosion that shook a Mount Vernon neighborhood and left a home fully engulfed in flames. The explosion was reported in the 900 block of East Fulton Street just after 6 a.m., according to Peter Donovan with the city of Mount Vernon. Firefighters arrived to find a "raging fire" in a home, reportedly fueled by a leaking natural gas line.
