Tumwater Fire joins peer support program aimed at reducing stigma around mental health care

Tumwater Fire Chief Brian Hurley is joining a countywide mission to show it’s OK for firefighters, EMTs and other frontline workers to talk about their mental health. It’s being done through the Peer Support Program, a confidential opportunity to debrief with colleagues. Hurley and Rian Winter, lead of the Peer Support Group and EMS lieutenant, gave a presentation to the Tumwater Public Health and Safety Committee on July 11.

Grass fire caused by cigarette in fire pit at a Kingston home

Alabama firefighter dies 5 days after on-duty shooting at fire station

One of two Birmingham firefighters shot last week at a fire station in the city’s Norwood community has died. New exhibit honors firefighters at Idaho train depot

VIDEO: Earlier this month, the Canyon County Historical Society unveiled a new exhibit highlighting Nampa's history with fire and the history of Nampa's Fire Department. The exhibit is in one of the city's oldest buildings, the Nampa Train Depot, celebrating its 120th birthday this July. On July 3rd, 1909, an unknown individual lit a firework inside the cigar store across from the Train Depot causing a massive explosion and fire.

Texas leads in firefighter suicides; Dallas Fire-Rescue's new mental wellness program already proving successful

Dallas Fire-Rescue officials say a relatively new program aimed at addressing mental health wellness within their ranks is already proving to be successful.
